SoundPeats Earbuds: Life Review

SoundPeats Life earbuds are becoming more popular among people looking for high-quality wireless earbuds at affordable prices. In this article, I will walk you through its features and performance to help you decide whether it fits you best. This article will give you honest, first-hand insights and information about the SoundPeatsLife earbuds, whether you are in the market for new earbuds or just curious about their specs.

Unboxing

The Life Buds unboxing experience is identical to that of other SoundPeats earbuds. If you have used any SoundPeats earbuds before, you can predict what is inside the small box package; however, it is not entirely the same. Inside the box, you’ll find:

  • 1 SoundPeats Life Buds charging case with buds
  • 1 USB-C charging cord
  • 1 User Guide
  • 1 SoundPeats app introduction
  • 3 Pairs of Interchangeable Ear Tips

Design

The SoundPeats Life earbuds come in a simple diagonal design. Each bud can only be worn in the ear it was designed for the. The buds are also very easy to wear and comfortable. The brand logo is in a gray ascent on the back of each earbud to help differentiate it from fakes. The Life earbuds have an LED light in the bottom of the stem that is constantly on when you’re not playing music, a feature I find very problematic when using the buds in dim lighting, especially in public.

The charging case is oval-shaped with a faux-leather texture on the plastic, similar to Free2’s charging case. I enjoyed the texture’s feel on my hands and how aesthetically pleasing it is.

It is small enough to fit in pockets, and opening it with one hand is doable but will require some effort. The Life earbud case cases have a Type C charging port on the back. An LED light just below the latch shows the case’s charging status and battery percentage. The lights show green when 100–60% charged, orange when 60–20% charged, and red for anything below that.

Connectivity

Connecting the Soundpeats Life to your phone for the first time might take a while, but after that, it is easy and even has automatic pairing once its power is turned on. The Bluetooth connection is strong, with a consistent signal up to 10 meters away from your smartphone. It is also possible to listen to one or both earbuds simultaneously without the music instantly pausing when you remove one earbud. The Life earbuds also have Bluetooth 5.2, which allows users to listen to HD music files.

Controls

The SoundPeats Life buds are compatible with SoundPeats app, which includes monitoring the battery levels for each earbud, choosing noise reduction mode, and altering the sound using an equalizer. It also features an option that disables the tactile sensitivity of the buds. The Life Buds also have sensitive touch panels that allow all the settings to be at your fingertips, like:

  • Double-tap left or right to play or pause music.
  • Tap right to increase the volume.
  • Tap left to decrease volume.
  • Hold right to skip to the next song.
  • Hold left to switch between ANC on, transparency mode, and ANC off.
  • Triple-tap right to activate the voice assistant.
  • Triple-tap left to activate and deactivate the game mode.

The only thing lacking in the controls is the ability to return to a previous track, and you can’t turn off the LED light while in idle mode, which can be irritating.

Battery Life

According to the Soundpeats website, the Soundpeats Life Buds battery life specs are as follows:

  • Battery Capacity: 460 mAH (Case)
  • Battery Capacity: 40*2 mAH (earbuds)
  • Earbuds Charging Time: 1.5 hours
  • Charging Case  Charging Time: 2 hours
  • Playtime: 25 hours

These are bold claims I found to be true while using the earbuds. It was difficult to run down the battery in one sitting, even after hours of listening to music and receiving calls. Although it is important to note that this is based on playing at half volume, greater levels can result in a shorter performance. In addition, using active noise cancellation will dramatically decrease battery life, and three hours of gameplay are more feasible at total volume with ANC activated.

Sound quality

The SoundPeats Life has a strong focus on the bass. The bass notes are heavy and fade slowly, giving them depth. The Life earbud’s sub-bass notes give music a delightful deep rumble. This is a good thing for me because I like bass in my music; however, it may be too much for other people.

Fortunately, for people who don’t like bass too much, SoundPeatsapp’s preset and custom EQ settings allow you to alter the bass level. The highs are smooth and should be passable even for those with treble sensitivity, while mid tones are effectively transmitted too, and the degree of clarity is shocking for an earbud in its price range. Overall, the sound’s capacity is extensive, and users never feel overwhelmed or boxed in with it.

Videos and Calling Quality

While using the SoundPeats Life, I made several phone calls indoors and outdoors, and the earbuds transmitted my voice clearly and loudly. Unfortunately, the quality of my calls was not compromised by the noise outdoors. Your voice remains clear and centered on calls, outperforming many similarly priced or slightly more expensive ANC earbuds. This also applies to Zoom, Google Meet, and Facetime video calls.

The video viewing experience with the Life Buds is not entirely outstanding, as audio and video synchronization sometimes lags on iPhone and Android. So it needs to be in game mode for you to enjoy your videos, which I don’t like.

The Life earbuds also have a game mode, which allows for better synchronization of sound effects in games. The game mode can be activated on the earbuds or the SoundPeats app.

Active Noise Cancellation

The SoundPEATS Life has excellent active noise cancellation in the ANC mode and transparency mode. The ANC removes and reduces loads of noise around you. I used it in a noisy hall, and most of the noise around me was filtered out. On the other hand, Transparency mode is only effective when you’re not playing music. For wind reduction, the ANC mode lets in quite a bit of wind noise, and the transparency mode lets in even more. So switching ANC off is very helpful to reduce the most significant part of wind noise.

Additional specs and features

  • Bluetooth 5.2 with codec SBC
  • Waterproof Rating: IPX4

Cons

As far as cons go, the earbuds only have two major ones: the relatively high latency and the fact that they are only available in black.

Final Words

The SoundPeats Life has both positive and negative features. They offer an unmistakably bassy sound that lets listeners enjoy their music, although the midrange sound may sometimes be harsh or tinny. The Life earbuds are suitable for everyday travel in terms of user experience, and the ANC is both adequately functional and practical. However, it is essential to note that the earbuds do not favor some genres like rock, jazz, and classical music because of their middling timbre.
